Julia Gelpke is a singer-songwriter and musician based in the UK. Drawing on an upbringing in the Mediterranean, and travels and adventures in South America and Africa, her music is an expression of her love for rootsy and folk music from around the world.

Her groove-based songs are strongly influenced by the Afro-Brazilian Orixa tradition, but are essentially totally hybridised, playing with different influences, connecting the ancient and the modern, and bridging continents.

They are a colorful celebration of the wild, of nature, the elements, and of the non-visible realms. Euphoric and timeless, they are a raw expression of the desire for freedom, and for the untamed voice of the feminine in these times.
